Susan Bartlett Rice
Susan Bartlett Rice is most inspired by the simplicity of her everyday life, living on a family farm on the Maine coast, and the space it gives her to create. She's drawn to the color and compositions of the natural world and the change of seasons. She thrives on the perpetual changes of weather, light and palette. Her modern work reflects a time almost gone as she colorfully represents long standing traditions with a contemporary eye.
Susan received a BA in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Vermont. Before returning to Maine in 2003, she was employed by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and The Rhode Island School of Design Museum. Residing in Walpole, her working studio is open to the public. Her stunning paintings are widely exhibited and collected.
