Tim Christensen

For Tim Christensen the natural world is both political and personal.  His ceramic art is his voice. Through his porcelain creations he manifests both his love of and fear for the future of our planet. Via his interpretations of endangered wildlife he communicates the awareness that we are living in a time of extinction, accelerated by climate change. 

Tim’s materials and tools are porcelain clay and a sgraffito tool, with which he carves images of birds, fish and flora then decorates the surface of his work using the sgraffito technique of scratching off one or more layers of colored slip to reveal the clay body underneath. The results are extraordinary.
