Whitney Gill
Whitney Gill is a Maine-based ceramic artist whose practice merges expressive surface work with functional form. She creates wheel-thrown and hand-altered clay vessels.
Her ceramic vessels are made from white stoneware clay and are both dishwasher and microwave safe. She uses a combination of glazes and oxides. Each form is created on the potter’s wheel, handbuilt or crafted using a combination of the two. She works in series ~ making groups of related pieces ~ cups, mugs, bowls and vases.
For Whitney, clay is a space for experimentation and dialogue shaped by rhythm and repetition. She works from her home studio in Bowdoin, Maine.
