In David’s words: “There’s a lot of nearly instant gratification in painting…but woodcuts, not so much. Once the block is cut there’s only so much you can do with plastic wood to make
corrections or changes. Once the ink in on the paper it’s there to stay. Why do I do them?
Every now and then it’s nice just to zone out, listen to music and do something completely
methodical, like spending a week cutting an image in a block.”
