This treasure is a rare example of the weaving prowess of the Ait Yacoub Jewish culture. Of particular note is the Star of David pattern which is difficult to see but was clearly pointed out to us by our rug merchant, Abdellah, in Meknes. What you see upon first look are the black and white shield shapes. Look at the yellow behind those shapes and you will discover the Jewish star. The age "guesstimate" for this runner is mid-20th century. It has a subdued, neutral palette of black, deep grey (natural wool) and pale yellow (saffron). Stunning and collectible.
