Only a limited number of these color saturated works of abstract art have reached the mainstream market. They are rare and highly collectible. Talsint, also known as Ait Bou Ichaouen rugs are handwoven by women in remote areas of northeast Morocco between the Atlas Mountains and the Algerian border.  Their rug designs are heavily inspired by the surrounding natural landscape – mountain peaks, valleys and dramatic seasonal weather. The colors and patterns used in their textiles are often bold and striking...and this is one, "Mariam", is reversible. One side is dimensional and the other is flatwoven. Beyond use as beautiful floor coverings, these rugs are fabulous as wallhangings or bed comforters.

Materials: Sheep wool, natural vegetal dyes

Condition: Vintage, good, reversible

Note: Due to the handwoven nature of these textiles, wear consistent with age and use is normal. This may include small worn areas, fraying and color bleeding. When we choose our rugs we make sure that they are in good vintage condition. These imperfections often enhance the look of these unique rugs.

Care: Blot spills with cold water. Professional cleaning recommended. Most handwoven textiles will fade in bright sunlight.
